India and Pakistan women team will be up against each other tonight in Women’s World T20I. As the excitement builds up, here is a look at how each team has fared in the past.
Indian Women have faced Pakistan Women for 10 times in T20I and out of that India have won 8 times. However, Pakistan has managed to won 2 games.
Their first victory came at Galle in 2012 edition of World T20I. Chasing 99 runs to win India’s run rate was kept low by Pakistan spinners. India needed 4 off last ball. But thanks to Sana Mir’s superb fielding Niranjana could only manage two runs before getting run-out while running for third. This gave Pakistan a one run win over their arch-rival. It was the first occasion when any Pakistan team has won against India in world cup.
Pakistan’s second win came against India came at Delhi in 2016. With Veda Krishnamurthy’s cameo at the end of innings India managed to get a total of 96 in 20 overs. Pakistan were looking good to win with 48 for 2 when Indian bowlers and fielders put India back in the game by reducing Pakistan to 77 for 6. But unfortunately for India, the rain didn’t allow the game to carry on. As per Duckworth-Lewis method, Pakistan were two runs ahead making them a winner.
As India and Pakistan battle it out tonight, India will be taking inspiration from their 8-2 lead over Pakistan while Pakistan banking on their previous two wins in world tournaments to get the inspiration.
